I can not seem to get Magix music maker 2014 premium to record a real instrument/ how do I set the program to do that with usb

I can not get Music Maker 2014 premium to record from a usb. I can not find any video or instructions at all on how to set the program up to record a real insturment. NONE seems like it should recognise and auto set it but it is not working!!!! I ha
